I am a 20 year old who will finish school with my AA in May and have decided to move to Atlanta in July/August when my current lease is up. I'll be moving from Rankin County, Mississippi which is in its boom phase at the moment (part of the Jackson Metropolitan area and the 2nd fastest growing county in the state) with rent easily being anywhere from 800-1100 for a 2 br per month so i'm accustomed to a higher cost of living. i would be moving with 2 roommates. i was wondering about job situations and was mostly looking at the Decatur area as far as the place ot live. I'm goin to visit a friend in a few weeks to get a feel of the city and i've put alot of thought into it, but i like doing my homework so i was hoping you guys could give me any advice. Thanks for any info.

What's an AA? And if it's an associates degree, what's it in?

Here's one tip,,,do NOT speed significantly over the limit on I-20 between west of Anniston and around Douglasville, GA. It won't be state troopers but local deputy dawgs that will pull you over. We make the trip over to Jackson/Madison 4/5 times a year. Nothing ruins a trip like a ticket!

Good luck, get settled and get your rear back in school for a BS/BA degree, eventually.

Decatur proper could be a little spendy but there are plenty of affordable situations around the City of Decatur if that is what you want.

yeah i drive up on occasion to see my friend. i kno all about the police there... i got two tickets in one trip. My friend is more privileged than i so asking her about the area is fruitless since her uncle deals with all the logistics for her.

i do intend to get back in school once i get some residency in GA. I knew the actual City of Decatur was pricy so i was actually looking more AROUND that area. ha ha
