Kennesaw vs Woodstock

We are semi retired working part time. We are looking in both areas, my husband will be working part time in Kennesaw by the Town Center & I will be part time either in Kennesaw, Woodstock or maybe Marietta by the Square area. We like to be closer to the town center but, we like the idea of lower taxes in Cherokee county. We have visited Kennesaw and really like it but, never been to Woodstock. Are they allot alike as far as the look? How about the people? What about the vibe of the two, the feel how would you compare them? Any info is great & much appreciated.
Thank You

BTW we are in our early 40's, very active, and have no kids. We are putting that in to consideration Woodstock vs Kennesaw. We do like to go downtown two times a month for activities and also like having a fitness center close by with a indoor pool. Please let us know your thoughts.

Kennesaw and Woodstock:

Fairly similar suburban areas of North/Northwest Metro Atlanta.

I'm currently in Kennesaw for right now, as a whole, Kennesaw is pretty cool. It's very convenient as it offers all of the stores and restaurants one could need. If you live closer to Barrett Parkway, if you travel during non peak hours, you can be in Atlanta within 25 minutes, if you go during rush hour can be up to an hour. The Marietta square is also about a 15 min drive more or less depending on where in Kennesaw you are traveling from. There's an expanding college here and I've been noticing the population around Chastain and Barrett to be trending on the younger side the past few years. Kennesaw is definitely a family friendly area the closer you get to downtown Kennesaw and north of it, and on the west side of Cobb Pkwy as that's where you'll find many of your single family homes, and the closer you get to Chastain and Barrett, you'll find that there are more apartments and townhomes, which are filled with young professionals and college students. Also, there are PLENTY of gyms in Kennesaw to supplement your needs. Also, one more plus about Kennesaw, is Kennesaw Mountain, you can ride your bike hike, or even just have a simple picnic there.

Now for Woodstock, its a couple of miles to the north on 575. Woodstock, IMO just kind of blends in with the suburbia of Kennesaw. Woodstock has many of the same offerings of Kennesaw, but Kennesaw offers just a little bit more such as the mall and a few more stores and restaurants, however Woodstock is a very short ride from Kennesaw. Woodstock has an awesome downtown that does blow Kennesaw's downtown out of the water IMO and theres a community in Woodstock called Towne Lake which is a pretty nice area. It offers anywhere from apartments to fairly large homes. Within Towne Lake, you'll have everything you'll need in that community such as restaurants, banks, grocery stores, gyms, movie theater, etc. The only thing about Woodstock is that it is a little further from Atlanta and if one had to travel down 575 during rush hour...may God be with them lol..It is also a bit further from the Marietta square as opposed to Kennesaw. While both are full of families and family friendly..I'd say Woodstock would have a few more families and a little bit more conservative(NOT completely political) than Kennesaw and Kennesaw is definitely a little more diverse than Woodstock. And last but not least in terms if looks, they both look the same. You can't really go wrong with either places as they're both pretty nice, I personally prefer Kennesaw because its slightly closer to Atlanta.

I wonder if one could give Woodstock a slight edge, as it may have slightly better access to north fulton, should one need to travel to Alpharetta etc.. OTOH, looks like Kennesaw is a bit south in a map, giving better proximity to facilities in Cobb county.

But yeah, they are probably about the same. I am guessing one is in Cobb, one is in Cherokee. One is I-75, other is I-575. Probably what is more important at this point.

Yes, Woodstock would be MUCH better for going to North Fulton as you would only have to take 92 all the way there. And no problem

I am impressed with the Woodstock "downtown" area- some very good restaurants such as Vincenzos, Pure and others. It has a great atmosphere (a lot like Canton Street in Roswell). There's also a nice park that hosts a number of events and activities. Yes, if you venture away from the central area, you are immersed in the suburbia strip-mall syndrome, but that is pretty much the same anywhere.
