From the area he lives, I would try to be along GA400 somewhere for hotel.

Many of the Hotels will pick you up at Marta, if your are not to far from them. Most of the car rental companies will drop, a car at your hotel, or come get you, (you then drive them back to there office).

I know Hertz Local Cars can be dropped at the airport, with no drop/charge.

ideally i should be driving my new car to Atlanta and save all the airport drama but im just not the same as i used to be when it comes to driving. its also a small car which may not be ideal for such a long trip (a Yaris) tho ive done numerous trips from NY to Atl in a little old Tercel

All the hotels from SandySpring (north of I285) up to Alpharetta are all within about 15min drive (or so) of your brother, off GA400.

Had to Google Yaris to see what it is.

I've done ATL-NJ/PA/NH many times in a Subaru hatchback. I do I78-I81 ... , would not want to do I95 with the traffic/trucks, (but have done it). But it going to take apx 15(Nonstop) more like 18hr with gas/food/etc stops from NYC-ATL. I Normally use to Charlotte NC as my overnight spot.

i normally stay in Creedmoor NC (Durham NC area) which is about 520 miles from NY and do the rest of the trip which is about 380 miles the next day. driving is more relaxing then flying but its more tiring and time consuming tho after i return home after having flown im always glad i flew as it saves more time and im way less tired

is there a way to get down to the people movers train by elevator instead of using those long escalators after Airtran dumps me in concourse C? my last flight i tried getting on an elevator to go down to the train and i was bluntly told i can't use the elevator. i didn't ask but is an elevator an option? i know i can use an elevator to get from the train up to baggage claim

and how tall are the escalators going up to the car rental train? is the height blocked or obscured in some way or is an elevator an option?
