I live in the Tucker area and I am looking for a place that is farther east enough that I can reasonably get to UGA for class but is close enough to the Perimeter area that my lady can get to her job. I'm okay with a 30-40 minute commute. I was looking at Lawrenceville, GA and google maps gives me a wide range of numbers anywhere from 40 mins to 1 hr. Most people I've spoken to say it only takes 30-40 minutes but I wanted to hear you guys opinions. I should also mention we have young kids (4-5) and want a good school system. Please help!

I had a friend who commuted from Pleasant Hill Rd. to Athens 3 days per week for a year. It got old REALLY fast, she said. But the trip down I-85 to the Perimeter area is way worse. At least you'll be moving along at a steady pace to get to UGA.

If that is in Duluth that probably won't be an option. Duluth is too far away. Any other suggestions?

How much commute is your girlfriend ok with? Because the closer you get to Athens, the worse her commute will be. Do either of you have non-traditional hours?

She wants 10-15 minutes. That's simply unrealistic. I was hoping it would be maybe 30-40 min for both of us. She works 530am to 130pm.

With those hours, she could be further out and still zip down 85. I would look in the Collins Hill Cluster in Lawrenceville.

Could you give me like a generic address in that area that I can use to map travel time.

Cluster Schools

Link for Collins Hill HS and the elementary/middle schools in the cluster. I would try to focus on whichever ones are furthest east and close to Hwy. 316.
