It seems all the threads on this date back to 2010 so I wanted to throw the question out there again and get a fresh 2013 perspective.

What is y'alls opinion on the dating scene in the various Atlanta neighborhoods, and where's a good place to move? I'm a 30 year old single nerd (fit but average height, unfortunately), I make OK money (around 80k), taking a new job in Norcross. It doesn't look like I'll have any luck there so I'll likely be moving in-town.

Also I've read complaints from women about the ratio in Atlanta, but it seems to be mainly coming from black women. Any word from the white/asian/etc groups in the ratio department? (I'm white)

I'm coming from around Woodstock/Marietta...nice family area but super bad scene. The chubby single momma with several children I last dated has at least 5 other good-looking guys (but with not as much money) in orbit around her...WTF? Is it the same elsewhere or can I do better?

Mid 30's here. Move to Virginia Highland or midtown as close to Piedmont Park as possible. Make sure that you get out regularly. I don't necessarily mean to the bars, but also pick up games at the park, festivals or special events, occasional milk/juice runs to trader joe's etc.

There are running groups, volleyball meetups, ultimate frisbee, etc, boot camps, etc... all sorts of things going on where you will be able to meet people. I just moved from the area about a month ago.

If you play tennis, ALTA is a terrific way to meet folks.

Hmm, By the way you disparage her in this comment, I'm thinking that your last girlfriend may have had reason to look around for another man. Did you have her best interest at heart? Or were you busy looking around for someone less "chubby" with fewer children? Did you get to know her for who she was? Just something to think about.

thats called, keeping your options open.

With 6 guys in her rotation, she had her fun, thrills, and entertainment at the expense of you, and them.

lol

So did I. I was ready to discuss my grandparents' courtship on Whitehall St in the early 1920's.

I've known her for years and I care about her. We just do lunch occasionally nowadays. I just got tired of her running around with other guys! She has so many options I guess I don't really blame her. Maybe she just wouldn't believe that someone would be willing to commit to her in that situation, with all the kids and such.

I guess that's my frustration coming out by describing that relationship. I can't even get serious with a single momma...?! Something ain't right, its time to move!

Definitely will check that out! Would you recommend apts, condos, or rooming at a house? I checked out the web for apts in that area and all of the reviews seem to be filled with bile, hatred, and murder stories
