Why are they even bothering? The tree and everything else has blown dead bears since they took it off the Rich's skybridge.
I really don't know why they bother. removed

Macy

this blows. completely. there was something magical about being able to find a tree that large and put it up there, plus the decorations... now it's like anything that remained of the old tradition has dried up.

but i promise, if macy's decides to open a store downtown or midtown and move the tree there... i won't complain. best case scenario, macy's reopens in the old rich's space and they convert the sam nunn federal center into a mall.

worst case scenario?

...this.
I agree.

When I was a kid and it was up on that breezeway it was EPIC!

I especially loved how they could position some the singers right under the tree

Would it be appropriate to say that folks are butthurt by the fake tree?

Wow, what a bunch of Grinches.

Who cares? It's not like you can tell from the distance you look at it from anyway. It's the spirit that matters, not whether it's real or fake.

I'm sure there are some people that complained about the new star on top of the tree, too, but I *LOVE* it! Reminds me of the old Holiday Inn great sign from when I was a kid.

Is Atlantic Stations real or fake? Either way I think Atlantic Station is competing well with Macys celebrations and now putting the tree in the ground floor will only help that. I hope the pink pig gets moved to Atlantic Station someday.

I think the tree's butt hurt when it fell to its new home on the ground.

i like the new star also. very mid-century modern looking. i just don't like the fake tree. i feel like it's a cheap sellout to save macy's money and stomps on an old tradition. remember when they used to announce whose tree was chosen for rich's, bring out a big crane and a truck, take it in... it was a big deal. now it's a big plastic thing a couple of guys can set up in a few minutes, and to add insult to injury, it's on the ground now.

i just feel like macy's is really selling atlanta short, and its traditions as well. had this been a tradition at their flagship store in NYC, you wouldn't hear of anything like this. i realize atlanta isn't new york, but hey, this is important to a lot of us. it's only once a year. do it up right.
