Nobody deserves anything.

You deserve what you are worth.

If you dont want to go to college or the military then do not complain about your wage.
So brutal, but so honest. Natural selection, darwinism and now capitalism.

Do you really think it's that simple? Do you think most of those low wage workers are capable of earning scholarships? Making enough at their jobs to pay for schooling while supporting themselves? Have any capital to invest money in any sort of business venture? Military might be an option for some, but plenty of people don't qualify and it's not some magic bullet, not every qualifies for the kind of training that gets them a good job when they get out.
There are a lot of people out there who simply do not have what it takes to move up to something better. Would you rather keep supporting them though taxes, or maybe just, maybe see them paid enough to live on?

C'mon, man. College is ridiculously over-expensive these days. And I went to and graduated.

That's the state of things today: say you love American jobs, but despise the American laborer.

What if you don't think min wage is the best way to help American workers? Does that mean I despise them if I want better than what min wage does for them?

But nobody here hates the American worker. We just know $15 for fast food work is an ridiculously inflated value.

I think these guys should strike and demand their $15 an hour. They should keep it up, NEVER CEASE, $15 or nothing! But I hope they enjoy nothing, because they are the most replaceable people out there. If you can train someone to do the job in less than a day, you aren't worth much in the workforce. I don't really see anything wrong with that.

Of course not. That's a valid opinion and a valid discussion point. But this thread didn't take the path of discussing fiscal policy and the best ways to improve the living situations of the poor and working class (or at least it didn't for very long). Instead it took the path of blaming the poor for being poor, and how they should be happy to have the crappy, low level jobs that they have because if they wanted better for themselves, they would get off their lazy butts and put themselves through college or miraculously get a better, higher paying job. That very much comes across as contempt for the individuals.
