What job markets are strong in Atlanta? My boyfriend is a support therapist for behaviorally-challenged children right now and is really wanting out, after 4 years. He has a psychology degree but is actually thinking of perusing something more technical. Just looking for ideas at this point

The techie field seems most accepting of people from various educational backgrounds. When I was a programmer, one of my co-workers was formerly an attorney and one only had a hs diploma but was just good at it.

If your boyfriend likes to constantly keep up with new technology, then that might be a good field for him and the market here is good but not great like it used to be. It exhausted me. Same thing, different syntax, but I finally got to the point where I said enough is enough.

Since positions in the medical field are in high demand here, maybe he could switch to psychology for a different demographic. (I probably could use some help myself lol.)

Depending on his degree, he might even decide to take a position at one of the local colleges as an instructor. I have a friend who has a position teaching a course at a community college in north Atlanta and I can assure you that it has nothing to do with his major so apparently there was a demand.

Tell him to go to medical school. It's the only sure thing anymore.

I also read that occupational therapists are supposed to be in high demand well into the future.
