Can't be true. Everyone was going to leave (or not come here) because SPLOST failed.

The haters can hate but this city keeps on bouncing back. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Atlanta is #1 next year too. Many big things coming online in the city in 2014 that will make the city even more attractive.

It's not an official list based on Census stats; it's based on Penske Truck Rental data. U-Haul also does its own list. Last year, Atlanta ranked first for Penske and Houston ranked first for U-Haul (Charlotte ranked 15th on the U-Haul list).

It probably would appear further down. This is only ten cities, right? Charlotte's economy was slammed badly by the recession as well. It still has not recovered fully. I live in N.C. and the one that surprises me most of all is the absence of Raleigh. Raleigh's growth is the fastest in the state now, and it did *not* slow down much during the recession. Since 2000, Raleigh-Durham CSA has swelled from 1,200,000 to 2,000,000 and it appears to be accelerating if anything. Raleigh is emerging as the biggest competitor in the southeast and could surpass Charlotte before long.

I moved here! I love my job, which is why I came here, to accept that. We are finding some amazing things about this area. We've kept to the outskirts so far but look forward to exploring the city. People are always asking if we miss Hawaii but I chose to leave Hawaii because I wanted to leave, not because I had to. One thing I noticed is the number of small parks here and there. Very well kept and well used and seemingly well respected. LOVE that!

Again, this is not based on Census data; only data from one rental truck company. The list will vary according to the company and the official Census stats will say something altogether.
