I've always been a bit surprised that residential Buckhead has no sidewalks to speak of. The Intown neighborhoods seem to (disregard their often deplorable condition).

Why? Rich people don't walk.

I was surprised too when I lived there. Outside of Peachtree, Piedmont and Roswell Roads, there aren't a lot of sidewalks in Buckhead. I spent most of my last 8 months in Atlanta living in Buckhead without a car and trying to navigate it by foot was very difficult if I had to go beyond these streets.

They do in New York City. Rich people even ride the subway there. If the sidewalks were already there in metro Atlanta, people would've used them.

So my point is stupid? Need I remind you that you're the one who brought it up?

As is the case with so many Atlanta threads that involve any aspect of an element of Texas, they eventually come to be dominated by an Atlanta vs. anywhere in Texas discussion pattern.
Additionally, I've seen a pattern in the city vs. city thread section on the forum that involve Atlanta/Georgia vs. anywhere in Texas whereby the Texans basically take the thread over & largely end up talking amongst themselves.
Overall it would appear that pursuing that line of discussion is generally not particularly interesting or compelling to forum members in Atlanta/Georgia.
Most definitely has happened in the past but this thread doesn't have any trolls and it is actually an informative thread from both sides from people that has experience with both places. I wouldn't be that quick to say every one of these threads turn out like those others.

As far as what happens in the city vs city forum. That is the result when one city has a braggadocios exaggerating booster who looks at things super digitally. Atlanta is blessed that they don't have posters like that.

Who said anything about there not being luxury cars there? Just like every person who drives a luxury car isn't rich, every person who is rich doesn't drive or expect to be carted around everywhere. It's a lifestyle choice. Wealthy people like to go outside and walk and jog just like everyone else. I'm not simply talking about sidewalks as a means to get from Point A to Point B, I'm speaking of exercise as well.

Plenty of those wealthy Buckhead folks jog up and down Peachtree. They need sidewalks to do it on.

Of course they aren't walking up and down West Paces Ferry. There aren't enough sidewalks for them to do it on. So are you saying that the rich people in Buckhead never want to go outside to take walks or jog? Should I assume that the folks I saw jogging up and down Peachtree in Buckhead in their fitness gear on a daily basis are poor peasants who can't afford cars?

I saw many Buckhead residents talking walks along Habersham Road every day, particularly the older ones. As there were no sidewalks there, they'd walk in the bike paths. When I was driving down that road, I'd have to be careful as there would be people walking or jogging along the side of the street for exercise. I had to take care that I didn't hit them.

There are people who have money who go outside to walk or jog for exercise, you know. They need a safe place to do it. On the Buckhead side streets, they had to do it in the road.
