There is next to NO public Transit in Alpharetta. MARTA run a fixed route bus, but not very often. MARTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

If he in a hotel, some of them provide some shuttle service to area work locations and to Walmart etc.

Taxi need to be reserved, (some what ahead of time) if you want to go that route. The Front desk can arrange that .

There are options for commuting out of the area, however there is nothing to get you around reliably through Alpharetta.

It is more of a drive to and catch a bus scenario.

Even if you make it work, you will be severely limited in what amenities, shopping, and services you can access. Can he stay somewhere other than Alpharetta?

A car is required; however, he could use a taxi cab service (taxi cab in alpharetta - Bing).

Or he could live within a few miles of where he works and ride a bike.

but with the build of Alpharetta that isn't always realistic.

You'd need to find a place to live, at your price point, and it would have to be close not only to work... but a majority of amenities you need from a city: shopping, food, doctors, dentists, etc... the whole gambit.

If you live in Alpharetta without a car, then you're forgoing much of what the area has to offer day-to-day and giving yourself very limited living choices... if the proper choice even exists.

This is why Atlanta needs a rail system sort of like New Yorks Long Island Railroad. To reach beyond the short arms of the MARTA.

How would that help? LIRR more or less is a commuter railroad that main goal is to take people into New York City.

Extending MARTA up 400 to X or Doing commuter rail would not help the cross suburb traffic.

Just like LIRR will not get you to the home/office location that are not on the main line of the LIRR. Without a long and time consuming trip that will get you to a connect point so you can then back travel on some other route.
