I am heading to Atlanta on Friday for a college trip with the family. We are staying at Perimeter Center but will be all over Downtown, Midtown, and Buckhead. What are some of the best local restaurants to go to suitable for families? Thank you!

I like the OK Cafe. Flying Biscuit (Midtown or Candler Park, not one of the chain locations). Ria's Bluebird Cafe. Six Feet Under. Fox Brothers BBQ. Those are just a few.

I love Chops and Rathbun's, but I don't think they are particularly family friendly. Ymmv. I probably would have taken my daughter when she was a baby/only child (she was in restaurants all the time) but now that I have 2 kids I am choosier about where I bring them.

Please ignore all of these and see the post above it.

If you guys like BBQ, hit Fox Bros.

We hit La Fonda up a lot with the kids. (Mexican / Cuban)

For Pizza, there is a Mellow Mushroom in Dunwoody that will be close.

Perimeter area is all chains. Going to have a couple miles in any direction to find 'local' food.

Went there last night, best BBQ outside of Birmingham, I've ever had.

I went to Ria's for the first time this past weekend. I heard that she makes the best pancakes in U.S.A. I had the Red Velvet pancakes and they were just ok. I guess I was expecting a lot more.

If you're on the West side of town, Taqueria Del Sol is awesome for lunch. Also try Six Feet Under off of 11th street (There's also one on the East Side). The food is pretty good, but the view from the rooftop patio is one of the best in the city. If it's warm, it's a great place for drink too, although you may be too young for drinks since you're looking at schools. Still a good place to eat.
