Hi I posted on here a few months ago about a decent area for myself and my ten year old son. I was originally looking for a two br in the 600.00 range but that's tough to find here in a good area. It looks like we may have to share a one bedroom until I get on my feet. I will sleep on sofa-bed in the living room. I have found some nice one bedrooms in Roswell area as well as Midtown near VA-HI but I know this is not a family area in Midtown. Also, there are some places near Turner Field and MLK Dr. area near Fulton Industrial Blvd. Any suggestions on any of these areas that we would be comfortable two years or so?

I'd steer clear of the Turner Field/MLK units, both for safety's sake and for school quality issues. As stated above, where will you be working? You don't want to be living on the opposite side of the metro area from your job.

You haven't said anything about your job or where you will be working. You don't want to be too far from work or you will spend all of your time commuting and none of it with your son. Try to find a place where the schools are decent and there are other kids. The more time you spend working the more time he is on his own. I wouldn't want to leave a child alone near Turner field or Fulton Ind. Blvd. Keep looking.

Sorry I had to leave for a few hours but I work in Marietta off exit 263 near Lockheed/Dobbins and Southern Poly Tech.

If you work in Marietta I would go away from town. Instead of looking around Fulton Industrial Blvd (trust me, you don't want your son there) go toward hiram. I think it is safer for a kid, and it's an affordable area.

Check out the Marietta/Powder Springs/Hiram area.

Edited to add: If you go on Craigslist and do a search...there's a ton of stuff in your price range...including 2 bedroom apts/duplexes.

Keep these tidbits in mind:
Marietta: stay away from anything on or near Franklin Road
Powder Springs: stay away from anything on or near Hopkins Road.

Hope this helps
