Report: Atlanta ranks among global cities of the future - Atlanta Business Chronicle

Metro Atlanta was ranked among the "Global Cities of the Future for 2014/15" by fDi Magazine, which tracks foreign direct investment activity.
Metro Atlanta ranked in top 20 in the world for "Global Cities of the Future" and No. 1 U.S. city for FDI strategy, according to the Metro Atlanta Chamber.
The individual rankings are as follows:
No. 18 among Top 25 Global Cities of the Future
No. 13 among Top 25 Global Cities for FDI Strategy (and No. 1 among U.S. cities ranked in this group)
No. 7 among Top 10 Global Cities of the Future – Major City category
No. 5 among Top 10 Major Global Cities of the Future – Human Capital and Lifestyle category within Major Cities group
The fDi Intelligence division compiled and analyzed 130 global locations in terms of inward foreign direct investment (FDI) projects on fDi Markets and fDi Benchmark, specialized online tools owned by fDi Magazine. Data was collected according to five categories: Economic Potential; Business Friendliness, Human Capital and Lifestyle, Cost Effectiveness and Connectivity. Surveys were also collected under a sixth category, FDI Strategy, which is the only qualitative category in the report. This category reviewed cities' strategies for promoting FDI. These strategies were evaluated and scored separately by fDi's judging panel.
Regional FDI initiatives included growth in industry clusters (mobility, health IT, financial technology, clean tech and cyber security); marketing trips and outbound trade investment activities to promote the region; digital and web activities used to promote interest in the metro Atlanta region; organic growth and business expansion opportunities with existing companies located in the region; connectivity through higher education institutions and consular and bi-lateral chambers of commerce in the region; and recruitment and marketing strategies to attract international companies and jobs to the region.
The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) submitted the survey application for the FDI strategy category that included key international and FDI work led by MAC and its partners in the 29-county metro Atlanta region.
The metro Atlanta application also showcased critical international economic development initiatives taking place in the region that promote our global footprint. This includes the Atlanta Metro Export Plan (MEP), which is part of the Global Cities Initiative, a joint project of The Brookings Institution and JPMorgan Chase. Atlanta is one of 20 metro areas that will design and implement a regional export plan to increase business growth through exports.

Great to read, thanks for posting! You should hang this up next door in city-vs-city. Twenty-seven pages of who has worse weather, Minneapolis or Seattle - they're definitely hungry for new content to fight about.

Btw, do you have access to the full FDI rankings?
