Maybe. But given how developed that corner of downtown is, there's only so much 'big box havoc' he could wreak.

I will withhold until I see details. I really doubt they will do a suburban style big-box there.

Would a big box really be all that bad? People need grocery stores and places to buy toilet paper, birdseed, plastic wrap and the other necessities of life.

As long as it's urban (which is pretty obvious given it's location), I don't really care if it's a Kroger or similar store. It's not like people are going to drive downtown just to shop. I just hope they don't ruin the actual underground part. I really don't want some generic stores down there.

Would it even be possible? Aren't the major earmarks of big box development sprawling surface lots in lieu of narrower parking decks or below-ground parking as well as a lack of street level access? That would seem nearly impossible given existing development in Five Points.

I have no problem with big-box being there. There are big box stores in the heart of every major city. It just need to fit into the urban fabric and be something that those that live downtown can easily walk to.

It would be cool to make it as an mini-chinatown.
