I think the day Marta finally builds lines going from one suburb to another (I.E. Lawrenceville to Marietta via Roswell) will be the day that just might see wide ridership in said areas.

The hub and spoke system currently in place just seems like a total reflection of commuting patterns of the 70's and 80's, not today. It's a shame Marta has been in such a chokehold for so long that it couldn't keep up with the changing development patterns and now it's having to play catch up... Or pigeonholed into being reactive rather than proactive.

My $0.02 anyway.

No it won't. A highly-decentralized system like that will just lead to low ridership on any given segment despite high overall ridership. There are some segments worth connecting directly such as I-285 and maybe Lawrenceville-Duluth, but we do not need to encourage decentralized growth, that's what leads to traffic and sprawl.

But the commuting patterns of today are a reflection of the policies of the 70s and 80s that allowed highly-decentralized growth and we need to try and return to those more centralized commuting patterns in order to more efficiently serve the commuters.

You'll have better luck just getting a line into Cobb County than have people completely change how they live and where they live.

Well, if we constrain the development and transportation corridors, they won't really have a choice now will they?

Support for MARTA is strong. Clayton-County numbers strong.
That's amazing. I'm reposting the graphic here for those who can't/wont download the PDF but also because damn, it just deserves some emphasis:

Approve or disapprove of potential expansion of MARTA to Forsyth county line?

Residents:
Strongly Approve 39%
Approve 37%
Disapprove 11%
Strongly Disapprove 8%
Don’t know 5%

Employees:
Strongly Approve 45%
Approve 31%
Strongly Disapprove 12%
Disapprove 11%
Don’t know 1%

How should MARTA expansion be accomplished?

Residents:
Heavy Rail 40%
Light Rail 37%
BRT in dedicated lanes 11%
BRT in HOV/HOT lanes 6%
Don’t know 6%

Employees:
Heavy Rail 68%
Light Rail 25%
BRT in dedicated lanes 3%
BRT in HOT/HOV lanes 3%
Don’t know 1%

Looks like it's not just us intown hipster millennial douchebags who prefer rail to bus.

Exactly what do they mean by "Forsyth County Line?" McGinnis Ferry Road?

You got it.

Along Georgia 400, the Fulton-Forsyth County Line is at McGinnis Ferry Road.

Sorry, but that's not worth it, there's nothing wrong with a P&R at Windward for Forsyth commuters which might also patronize the businesses around there.

Windward is the last station in the plan. http://www.itsmarta.com/uploadedFile...02APR15(2).pdf

The county line thing was just the question asked in the survey.

By talking about extending the Red Line to McGinnis Ferry Road and the Fulton-Forsyth County Line, I think that some Northside business and real estate interests might be aiming for future eventual expansion of the rail transit system into Forsyth County.
