Hi -

The house search continues, now moving our sights to East Cobb.

To get to Coca-Cola (and home) from Marietta (south of lower Roswell, in the Dickerson MS/Walton HS zone), how long should I expect?

I'd be leaving 7:00-7:30am, but returning with everyone else at 5:30-6:00pm...

Thanks for the help...

MARTA is an option, there is a station in Sandy Springs.

Agree with this, if you're actually near Dickerson. The Sandy Springs MARTA station really isn't very far away from that area, and traffic on Johnson Ferry across the river to Abernathy is fairly tolerable, from what I've seen.

You will want to be sure to have easy access to I-285 (via Johnson Ferry to Riverside Dr) or I-75 (my preference, which would most likely put you in Dodgen Middle school district--also an EXCELLENT school!) Admittedly non-rush hour, I can get to GT in 20-25 min, or the zoo in 35 min. Your evening commute is going to be rough. Just a lot of folks going the same direction you're going Technically you will be able to travel side streets if there is a real need (accident on the interstate, etc) but the routes are very indirect and seem to take just as long as the interstate even when it is crawling.

The main arteries in East Cobb see a lot of rush hour back up: you do NOT want to be forced to take Paper Mill between Johnson Ferry and Woodlawn! Trust me! Just don't do it. Roswell Rd, Lower Roswell Rd, and Johnson Ferry are all packed during the evening rush hour, but they do move.

Riverhill might be a good subdivision for you to check out. And Fainview Farm. Also, several along Roswell Rd...Wynmont, Ashbrooke, Blackwell Farm...

Oops, didn't see the Marta suggestions. That's great advice. Sandy Springs station is only like 5 miles from that portion of East Cobb.

Roughly 30-35 minutes in traffic.
