Hello all. My wife and I are moving the Atlanta area in about six months. I have already secured a job that will transfer me there. I was wondering what would be a good suburb to move to? The only conditions are that it is within one hour of the airport and around 900 per month for rent. Also relatively safe since I will be traveling a lot and wife will be home. We are moving from Los Angeles. Thanks for the help in advance.

Historic College Park, East Point, Hapeville, and Forest Park if you want a five minute commute. East Atlanta (around Moreland), Morrow/Lake City, Fairburn, Jonesboro for 20 minute commute. The first options are more urban (except East Atlanta on the second), and you need to look at reviews of your apartment complex. Second options are more suburban with Fairburn having a small town feel. Ask if you need more specifics.

Look at the apartment OTP on 285 on Atlanta Rd. Also look at the apartments ITP off 285 and Paces Ferry

Are you able to get from the airport's MARTA train station to your job location? The longest one-seat ride is 40 mintues from North Springs which is on the north side of Atlanta and near Sandy Springs and Dunwoody. Also Brookhaven is a bit closer in and has a one-seat ride from the local train station.

As jsvh posted, I think Peachtree City is a good idea. I also consider College Park since the airport is located there if it must be 900 per month. That is not really realistic so you might want to look at Fayetteville, Jonesboro, or Forest Park.

Since you said within one hour from the airport try Grantville, Ga where the Walking dead is filmed.
