I'm starting a poll for residents living in north-central DeKalb for the coming election to form the new city of LaVista Hills. With everything that's going on with DeKalb, combined with their focus on the south end of the county rather than the north, I'm voting "Yes" on November 3rd. To me, it's a no-brainer. Let DeKalb stew in their own mess - I wish to have no part of it, and hopefully most will agree with me.

For those living within the boundaries of the proposed city, what are your opinions about the new city - is it a good thing or no?

Sandy Springs resident, so I'm not gonna vote, but- I think incorporation is probably a necessary thing, now. Because every area around you is incorporating. Not that I really agree with that movement in the first place, but it's a thing. So grab your local control, while you can.

I will say that, 10 years post incorporation, I now definitely support Sandy Springs as a city, especially now since it is developing a downtown area, of sorts.

And Tucker has an historic downtown.

But... LaVista Hills. Y'all are going to be like an inner suburb version of Johns Creek. A large area of suburban subdivisions, with a high population, but with no core commercial area or downtown. So to me that should be first on the agenda for LH.

Good luck! Everyone seems to like the name, at least.

Not my area but, I have noticed that friends in the Lakeside area have been upset at the idea of Druid Hills leaving the school system if they decide to be annexed to Atlanta, but I think it is the whole Lavista Hills thing that is really the final push to make Druid Hills to consider annexation. (and while this is not my area, like anyone in DeKalb County and APS, my area could definitely affected when the dominos begin to fall).

Hell-to-the-no.

LaVista Hills, like Druid Hills, needs to be annexed by the City of Atlanta.

Even the portion that's outside the Perimeter (where I am)? I don't think that'll go over too well...lol.

I'm surprised to see more "no" votes than "yes" on here, since there's far more "yes" signs in my neighborhood than "no" signs.

We know several folks who live in the area and they are pumped about it.

If that's what the citizens want, but don't go placing blame on South Dekalb because they are in much worse shape and will suffer more if Lavista Hills incorporates.
