I have friends in Roswell whom I visit weekly. I am seeing more of the $500,000 to $900,000 being built in that area….who are buying these homes in this economy?
I really think the builders are greedy and do not have any intention of putting in affordable and convenient housing. I have a large home and am now widowed. I am still able to take care of it, but want to downsize.

What are we to do??
I always wondered this, like what are the occupancy rates for many of these places.

My thinking on the 55+ community is it attracts people who want an exclusive environment, which there's nothing wrong with that. The buyers are people who don't mind paying for the exclusivity. Builders will certainly capitalize on that. Hubby and I thought about buying into one, (we're close to the right age) but our kids are still teenagers and we don't want them stuck with a property they couldn't live in or have a hard time selling when we pass.

Yes you are included in those helping to drive up the price in Roswell. I guess you don't get it so I will explain. Demand drives price. But for ppl like you that don't want to live anywhere but Roswell or nearby vicinity, the builders could not charge 500-900. Get it? They would have to reduce the price, get it? This is a simple supply and demand explanation based in capitalism. If you are a Republican, you should know all about this.

Nothing I said had anything to do with what you can afford. That is an entirely different concept/idea.

I never said I wanted to live in Roswell…I said I go to Roswell quite often and was using it as an example of the continued building of pricey homes. If you are familiar that area, and I doubt that you are, (because I mentioned the Northwest area and Roswell is Northeast of Atlanta) Shallowford which becomes Pine Grove is being developed and that is where homes of a smaller size and price needs to be established. Many baby boomers in that location.
I am located near Lake Allatoona. Very reasonalble prices here and land is a plenty. This is where I want to stay. You democrats get so emotional.
