Excellent points again from the regulars, especially B2R. Great insight.

Nothing more ridiculous than a CCT coach bus with "Cobb Express" in bright orange inching in the HOV lane headed north on 75 this afternoon. While a rebrand is nice, CCT looks and feels small time, and Cobb is overdue for real transit options.

primal, should be some sort of historic streetcar or light rail running up Paces Ferry to the mall connecting all of those office parks. Or, as you say 4W, just let MARTA handle this.

Most people do not have enough time to sit and wait for a bus. Live arrivals lets you minimize wait times rather than sit on the side of the road for 23 minutes. How hard is this to add in this age of mobile connected devices?
That is because Cobb County does not care about it's lower income residents. They have proven this time and time again.

Just re-reading this article:

Cobb transit to get a new look | www.myajc.com

So all I'm seeing is a wanna be MARTA livery, using horrible Gillig buses, and the service isn't changing. If anything it's going to get worse because they aren't going to put advertisements on the buses anymore, which will cause them to lose around $80,000 a year. WOW, Cobb Transit, CCT, Cobb Linc, whatever you want to call it have to be run by some dummies!!

My last week at Cobb DOT, they were talking about starting to test the buses this month.

I saw the Cobb Linc buses IRL on S Marietta Pkwy the other day, and they look pretty good. At least a lot better color scheme than that ugly 80's off-blue color of CCT. In fact it's close to almost a MARTA-like look, which may be kind of what they were going for.

All in all though, they need a mass transit backbone for the buses to feed into, rather than a "transfer station" just to get on another local bus route. Current setup is a joke. Just work out a service agreement deal to bring MARTA rail to Cumberland, just a mile inside the county line, then all the various Cobb Linc bus routes could feed into that, as well as potential 41 BRT.

That would require them giving up control and letting Atlanta-dominated MARTA control. CCT thinks they can do it better, but they fail at even a basic bus system.

I mean, failure depends on your definition of success. They probably do get a good bang for buck out of what they have, considering there's no MARTA sales tax in the county. Honestly, I see a lot more usage of CCT than I did of GCT when I lived in Gwinnett. I see plenty of riders, at least on their main routes thru Smyrna.

It's more that they are inherently crippled. They have the bare bones of a decent little county bus system, that's crippled by lack of regional connection and the dedicated right-of-way speed and convenience of trains.

I know they're using it on the ATL Transit website.
