If MARTA can change this used-to-be skeptic minds and North Fulton republican senator, it speaks truth to KP's leadership and the changing tide of mindset towards transit.

Senator Beach is an actual example of a good and reasonable political leader in Georgia. Seems like a rarity.

If this current bill doesn't make it, this would be a tremendous opportunity for transit advocates to regroup and focus on getting the Business community to participate in MARTA funding.

I know we like to call ourselves "business friendly," but it's just plain nuts to give big business a complete pass, especially since they are the ones reaping huge financial benefits from mass transit.

As noted earlier, a small payroll tax similar to what they use in NYC would generate huge amounts of money and could easily be absorbed in the corporate business model.

So if there is defeat may it give rise to an even greater victory.

And if it's like anything in NYC, that tax is paid for by the individual taxpayer.

Let it go dude. You are getting nothing done talking to us about it. Instead of talking, do something about it and organize a committee, write a state leg.

The President's 2017 DOT budget favors transit and TIGER projects, which could bode well for the MARTA expansion sales tax.

Some of the raw numbers: Public transit funding would nearly double under this budget, from $11.8 billion in fiscal 2016 to just short of $20 billion. TIGER grants that jumpstart so many metro area projects would rise from $500 million to $1.25 billion.

The president's budget is a completely irrelevant document this year. Congress will not even hold hearings on it. It is completely DOA.

Just curious, why is it that you do not express these concerns when taxes are levied for roads and highway expansion? Aren't businesses benefiting from enhanced highway interchanges as well?

It's in the works.

I must say I am amazed at how upset some transit advocates get about the suggestion that Big Business should participate in helping to fund MARTA.

What makes the big corporations sacrosanct?
