Exactly, so Atlanta has to shoulder the burden alone. Unlike NYC where the game was in New Jersey, and major events were in Manhattan. Or the Bay Area where the game was down in Santa Clara while major events were up in San Francisco itself and a few other areas as I remember.

Those areas didn't have much of a choice. NYC and the Bay Area did that because their stadiums were way outside of Manhattan and San Francisco, and the NFL wanted the surrounding events in the centers of those cities. Whereas here, everything will be located close by and convenient (same as in 1994 and 2000).

There is no way in hell that hosting the Super Bowl costs more than it brings in for the city. That's utterly ridiculous, but there always seems to be a turd in the punch bowl on this site.

Great! So instead of fixing our infrastructure issues we get to highlight them!

We all know if it's on the internet it MUST be true. LOL!

Are you gullible enough to believe such nonsense? The Super Bowl is an economic boon for any city that hosts it - you don't need to look at any list of numbers to figure that out.

Wow! I didn't realize my opinion was more evidence than empirical data and statistical analysis! This is great!

These things are needed for said city to make the most money during the big game

1. The stadium should be in downtown. (Don't want to have to split the money with another city/state)
- Not in the "suburbs" like stadiums in Dallas, San Fran, etc.
- Not in the next state like in NY
- New Orleans, Miami, Atlanta, etc have their stadium downtown

2. Said city has to have a good tourism base already established. Cities with low tourism probably will not make as much money as places with high tourism. People already visit Atlanta, Miami and LA for fun so adding the big game is an additional element. Do people (generally speaking) really want to fly to the Super Bowl to party in Indy, Phoenix, Jacksonville, etc?

3. Said city has to have a party atmosphere. Miami, New Orleans, LA, Atlanta, NYC, etc has this element. A majority of the visitors will come just to party so said city has to have that element to keep the visitors entertained.

4. Said city should have entertainment, hotels, restaurants, etc near the stadium

5. Weather. Even though the big game is in the winter and even though Atlanta had ice during the last Super Bowl I think most people would still rather go to the game on the West Coast or in the south verses the NE

With this being said I hope the Philips Arena/Gulch redevelopment plan, Centennial Park improvements, etc are complete b4 2019. Too bad we dont have a casino downtown
