True, many more bicycle-friendly cities have bike boxes that allow cyclists to get ahead and have more visibility.

I am okay with it. We have so few cyclists how can it hurt?

Yes it's true Atlanta has more drivers than bike commuters, but the number has substantially.

My point is that we are talking about a very small number of people. Why shouldn't we respect and protect them? I just don't see how this is major skin off anyone's nose.

I agree completely. The right to operate an automobile comes with responsibility. That includes judicious use of the power you have behind the wheel; ie being hyperaware of pedestrians and cyclists and being deferential to their presence. Your car is not a weapon; park your anger somewhere else.
I'm all in favor of anything that protects the rights of those that elect transportation alternatives that don't involve fossil fuels. We're totally spoiled here on the island; all thoroughfares here have dedicated bike trails, thanks to a remarkable woman named Peggy Missildine.

I don't understand why so many peddling bikes are socio-pathic, self-appointed centers of the universe, baffled by the lack of respect shown their hostility and utter indifference to the law.

This can also be said about drivers.

Well, you can say anything about anyone.

But I have been driving for 49 years and biking longer than that. I know what I've seen. No honest seasoned observer denies that, by percentage, that description fits a far greater portion of today's costumed biking crowd than it does car drivers.

Y'all have one heck of a setup down there, LD. What a beautiful place!

Funny, I would say the same about a lot of drivers around here.
