Anyone who says it is not is really not a follower of basketball. I can see the place being home for top AAU tournaments like Peach Jam which brings people from throughout the world in the summer.A great PRO AM summer league which will attract from throughout the country ala Las Vegas. There is a large segment of people who love to watch players BEFORE they become superstar pros. For instance, I would have loved to see Atlanta's own Collin Sexton ,Wendell Carter Jr etc competing against the best in the country in Atlanta in a informal setting

Well, IIRC the existing convention center right next to this arena wasn't exactly popping with events or utilized all that frequently.

CP can handle it as long as they keep getting that airport money. But if the state is ever successful in taking over the airport, CP might be put into a tough spot. Covering the cost of business for a for profit organization. Ugh...

The College Park Skyhawks are ready to become Atlanta’s new favorite team

On October 7, during halftime of the first Atlanta Hawks preseason game against the New Orleans Pelicans, the College Park Skyhawks introduced their mascot, Colli Hawk. A facsimile of the Hawks famous dancing mascot Harry the Hawk, Colli Hawk came down from the rafters of State Farm Arena to roars of applause. That kind of positive energy will hopefully follow the Skyhawks to their new home, the Gateway Arena, in time for their home opener on November 21..."

Seats starting at $10 (lower level) and front-row seats at $25? Not bad if you don't mind seeing a minor-league game!
