Midtown keeps getting better and better. Projects like this really make a difference.

I was excited about the prospect of a movie theater mentioned in one of the presentations. That was until they mentioned tickets for the imagined theater would be around $30. I don't care how much money I make. I would never pay that much to see a movie.

After 32 years of working there in The Square, I'll note that I've appreciated the current incarnation of that small piece of low key greenery. So, your concern has also been a concern of mine!

The corner of 14th and Peachtree Streets in Midtown will soon be transformed into The Grove, a new green space with 80-foot trees at the entrance of the "reimagined" Colony Square.

Developer North American Properties (NAP) this week submitted plans to the City of Atlanta for The Grove, one of several components of Colony Square's under-construction overhaul.

Fencing earlier this year went up at the future home of The Grove in preparation for construction.

Once complete, the new green space will offer "soft seating, Spanish steps, a beer garden and plenty of shade" as the "gateway" to Main & Main, a planned 12-stall Colony Square food hall.

FYI: For purposes of clarity, the artistic rendering of The Grove found at the bottom of the article shows that new phase of redevelopment. The crosswalk shown there is at the intersection of 14th St. & Juniper St. & the W Hotel would be seen on the immediate right if that drawing were larger.

They really need a mid-block crossing from Norfolk-Southern building to Colony Square.

I thought there was a light at the entrance of the 1275 Peachtree parking lot (Boys and Girls Club building). If not, didn't there used to be one?
