I guess we're just gonna ignore this since it doesn't agree with the MARTA narrative of this board?

to be fair to OP, they are buried in threads w/ extremely general titles. which happens way too much on this forum of late. this is significant news that deserves it's own thread imo

very sad news, my sincerest well wishes and prayers go out to the victims. on the train too, scary

remember though, this is still way safer than driving, so don't let the feels take control over rational thought. your best odds of arriving at your destination alive is riding MARTA.

Has more to do with that part of town, than anything to do with MARTA.

I can't even imagine what people on that train were going through. Thoughts with the victims and families. I'm getting ready to board the trains now and trying to be logical. There is no narrative. MARTA is safe. It's so shocking and deserving of its own thread because it is rare.

Exactly.

I found this really interesting....

When I heard four people were shot at the West End MARTA station, I immediately figured it was just some thug or domestic dispute.

In many other places if you heard the same thing, your first thought might be that it's a terrorist attack. The thought of terrorism never even crossed my mind for this one.

Still, pretty sad, especially considering how many more people are riding MARTA than usual right now (though, probably not on this line).

Recent events tell us MARTA isn't safe.

How many people have stepped on to a MARTA train in these last 2 weeks, and how many of them have died?

Take a look at this link and then find me some crime stats on MARTA that look nearly this dire -

Somebody probably died in a car wreck since this thread was created an hour ago. Nothing is perfectly 100% safe, but MARTA is very, very safe. Transit in general is safe, and MARTA is even the safest in the world of transit.
