The current state of lane markings around town is terrible. Frequently, it is a matter of interpreting where lanes are supposed to be. In my commute, it is the worst on bridges. Spots where lanes shift and people are turning off and on the interstate. This is dangerous. Considering how bad drivers are in this town, we need all the help we can get.

At what point is the city negligent in the maintenance of roads? This is truly a safety hazard and shouldn't be left to fade like it does. The city should be held liable for accidents caused by non-existent lane markings.

I would love to see a mayoral candidate take this on along with the many unsafe/embarrassing maintenance issues around the city. I'd like to see current the senior leadership responsible for city maintenance removed.

I wish they'd do a better job of painting lines through intersections especially where there's a hill. I nearly get hit turning left every time I exit at 17th street because some moron wants to try to shove me into the bus only lane. I put a topic on here about that a while ago.

Peachtree St from south Buckhead to Midtown essentially has no lines. Was driving that stretch during a rain a few weeks back around dusk. You absolutely had to simply guess where your lane was. A bit frightening.

Use ATL311 to request Markings For Preferential Lines
Quote:
Preferential lines are symbol and word markings or preferential lane longitudinal markings for motor vehicles
on city maintained streets inside the city limits.

Thanks! I am going to be taking notes on specific areas of concern and will start reporting them.

Do you think maintenance issues like this aren't taken care of because they are unreported or they just aren't prioritizing it? I'm ready to start a campaign to harass the $#!* out of the city.

That section is about to be repaved this summer.

Well it DOES have stripes now that they have repaved. Forgotten what they looked like!

That's a mess over there. Similar things have happened to me.

I find that Atlanta signage and markings are designed as a gentle reminder for people who already know this stuff. Considering the number of new people and outsiders, that's not a good strategy. You just find out too late.

Very few of the signs in the area are reflective anymore, so they can't be read at night.
