I stayed at a hotel in College Park in 2009. The hotel was nice but I remember the surrounding area as kinda rough looking. I remember going up one of the roads I think old National and there were some old looking fast food places. Well Im thinking of staying at that same hotel and its now 9 years later and I was looking around the area on google maps and it looks like the area has progressed. I really dont even recognize the area. Im wondering if Im looking at the same place.

Has it changed for the better?

I'm sure it's the same as you remember it.

The area around College Park train station has improved, even a new hotel was built in walking distance from the train station. Old national gets better the farther south you go, with LA Fitness, Burlington, etc. World Changers continues to improve, they just renovated the dome roof, and about to build 1 million dollar facility for the small children. The airport also have a train that goes into College Park from the airport to Georgia International Convention, rental car complex, and some new hotels.

Also Hapeville just added a five star hotel near Porsche headquarters.

College Park, especially around Woodward Academy, has been gentrifying.

Is College Park as bad as it used to be? Does it still have the same rep?

It still has the same rep.

Whether it's still warranted, I don't know.

Therr have been some marginal improvements in recent years, and there are massive transformative projects in the works, but overall it's still pretty gritty for now (it most certainly hasn't turned into Cumberland or Sandy Springs).

Is really hope it doesn’t become a Perimeter or Cumberland, that would be so depressing. College Park actually has character.

Yeah the area is gentrifying and getting whiter, I don't know why you didn't just come out and ask that. All the code talk white people try to use is kinda adorable, " Like is the area modernizing and get less... rough?"

While an influx of white people does tend to speed up gentrification, it isn't required. Welcome to the 21st century.
