People typically do not think of Warehouses and Distribution Centers when they think of Alpharetta, but Exit 12, McFarland Pkwy is home to several high-end industrial facilities, warehouses, and distribution facilities as well as industrial office parks. Scientific Games and UPS are right up there. An Amazon distribution center could comfortably fit along Bluegrass Pkwy or McFarland Pkwy without seeming out of place.

Both sedimenjerry and Need4Camaro’s comments raise some excellent and very important points.

As one of the most affluent communities in the Atlanta metropolitan area and state of Georgia with many upscale amenities, Alpharetta is not a community that is typically identified with light industrial development, including warehouses and distribution centers.

But, like Need4Camaro notes, the Alpharetta area (including the part of unincorporated South Forsyth County with an Alpharetta mailing address that Need4Camaro mentions) actually is home to a decent share of light industrial and logistical facilities.

Though, Alpharetta’s status as a rising hub of technology jobs more than likely necessitates the existence and availability of at least a modest amount of light industrial space.

The suburban community’s status as the home of many affluent residents with high incomes and much spending ability and buying power likely also makes Alpharetta a target for at least a modest (if not fair) amount of warehouses and distribution centers to attempt to more adequately serve the mostly affluent area that is North Fulton and Forsyth counties.

$15/hour for unskilled labor seems pretty fair to me. That's $31,200/year for something you don't even need a college degree to do. Get a couple doing it, and they can afford a fairly decent lifestyle. Not great, maybe, but not bad.

You think the "mom and pop" stores that Amazon "killed" pay their employees like that? Think again.
It seems fair until you actually do the job. The amount of production you're expected to have for that $15 is quite unrealistic. Especially during shopping holidays. Been there done that, would not do it again.

Yep.

Basically in the southwest part of Forsyth County that has Alpharetta mailing addresses in and around the vicinity of the Georgia 400 and McFarland Parkway interchange.

There also are a relative smaller handful of warehouses and distribution centers farther south in the Alpharetta area in and around the area surrounding the Ameris Bank Amphitheater in the area of Old Roswell and Hembree Roads... An area that straddles the boundary between Alpharetta and Roswell, west of Georgia 400 and east of Georgia 9.
