Yep.

There's already a thread and lively discussion going on about it on the Atlanta Forum...

If you have never been to Newnan, it's a nice community.

It's got a nice historic courthouse that is surrounded by a nice historic downtown area that has become a hub for television and film production in recent years.

It's also got a decent-sized cluster of retail amenities in the area of the I-85/GA-34 interchange, including the Ashley Park open-air retail development.

Newnan also has some good schools in the Northgate, East Coweta and Newnan clusters of the Coweta County school system.

While it may not necessarily feature the higher profile and gaudy ratings and rankings of other parts of the Atlanta metropolitan area, Newnan is a good place to visit and is a good place to raise a family.

I hope the stories about Amazon unsafe working conditions for warehouses are not true.

From what I understand, those stories unfortunately do appear to have a good degree of substance to them.

"Report shows high injury rate at Amazon warehouses" (AFP/Yahoo!)

… Which is one reason why, despite being one of the most successful companies in the history of Western Civilization, Amazon has many detractors who understandably may not be all that happy when the company frequently announces new locations of their warehouses... Warehouses which do not necessarily have the best reputation of being good work environments for employees.

Be nice if the jobs paid $20 an hour starting out with full benefits, vacation, insurance, & topped out in the high 20's after a few years.

Amazon opening 5 new distribution centers in metro Atlanta

The new centers are located in Acworth, Alpharetta, Doraville, Duluth and Forest Park.

Amazon is looking to hire as many as 200 employees at each center. Pay starts at $15/hour.

I've seen the Duluth center.

It's where the old Incredible Universe was, and the where Dave & Busters was after that for some time, right near Costco.

$15/hour for unskilled labor seems pretty fair to me. That's $31,200/year for something you don't even need a college degree to do. Get a couple doing it, and they can afford a fairly decent lifestyle. Not great, maybe, but not bad.

You think the "mom and pop" stores that Amazon "killed" pay their employees like that? Think again.

I'm wondering if they're trying to get their Prime delivery times down to one day or even x hours. When I think warehouses and distribution, I don't typically think of Alpharetta. But there are plenty of Amazon customers around
