Normally, I keep it around 73 mph. If I'm in a "hurry", I'll do 5-8 especially if traffic is in a big hurry.
From Gwinnett to Lake Hartwell is about 70 miles exit to exit. At 75 that's 56 minutes. At 80 that's 52.5. Even doing 85 only gets you down to just 49.25 minutes. I'd rather take 7 more minutes to get there at a "relaxing" pace than try to do 85 the whole way. It's not even possible, you're bound to get stuck behind 18 wheelers passing and what not.

Anything around Metro Atlanta is too busy to do that fast. 100 is too fast. 90, I see, I don't do it, but it's only 20mph above most traffic flow, I can tolerate people doing it (on the freeway). If you really have to open up your car or motorcycle like that, at least go down past Macon.

I think alot depends on our vehicle, 100 in a full sized truck is too fast or a full sized SUV, they are just too big & heavy. A 100 in a porsche, completely different story.

My Porsche will do 182, but the fastest I ever drove it on 400 was 137. The ride was smooth as silk. 100 in a Porsche is like 70 in most other cars. Quiet & smooth. When I did this, there was nobody else on the road except other exotic car owners at 6:30 am on a Sunday morning. We had a spotter 1 mile ahead of us to be sure no other cars around. There's probably a video of it somewhere on youtube. I know several were taping it all with their roof mounted go-pro's.

Why did I do it? It was a rush. Would I ever do it again...nope. Next time, I'll be on a track.

There were Lambo's & Ferrari's blowing by me like I was standing still. They had to be doing 160.

I wish it was just 400. GA's overflowing with moronic speed demons these days.

If people simply want to risk their own lives, have at it.

But don't endanger the rest of us in the process.
That's the point though. The fact that there are consequences, not just for themselves, but others, makes such things more fun for said persons. Said persons know it is wrong, they it will hurt other persons and not only them. The mentality is "I'm not suppose to do this. It's dangerous for me AND everyone else. If I do this and nothing happens, I get a thrill out of cheating death".

Unfortunately this is the truth.
Same applies for that recent incident of those 4 wheeler's that took over the streets in Midtown / Downtown...and the same applied for that recent event where a gang of cars closed off I-285 underneath the runway to do burnouts.

I get the notion of excitement of pushing one's own existence to the limits.

But what is the thrill in subjecting other people to death or injury? "Yee-haw, watch me plow into this innocent family at 120 mph! I'm a complete idiot!"

You need Russian car crash videos on Liveleak for that.

Hopefully law enforcement will clamp down on these racers. If you want to drive fast we have a racetrack nearby.

Its more so they dont really care about bystanders, they just see them as obstacles, not people.
