Both have the same types ... but Atlanta's known for it.

Don't take it personal.

Be jealous.

You're the one that seems invested in this garbage, not me. It's a ridiculous false narrative that you obviously intend to push for some bizarre reason. It won't work, and you need to check yourself. I have zero reason to be jealous, but you sure seem to be.

It depends on the role. Developer / Scrum sounds like DevOps and entry level development (borderline innovation) pays considerably more because you need to know a good bit more to start at an entry level role in that field, (most likely a programming language like Java, Python, C++, YAML, ect) that and there are no handbooks for that sort of role due to how flexible the tasks can be. You have to be flexible yet logical in the way you think as the only one who can lead you to a solution is ‘you’ rather than watching troubleshooting videos for equipment related matters.

The OP is more so in an operations environment, those pay less because they can get away with it as it’s easier to replace someone in operations.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise and NCR in Alpharetta (at that time) were paying $40k for some of their operations based tech roles, but tech roles vary across the board, some pay much more. Like I stated earlier the real benefit of tech isn’t the initial high pay but the very high ceiling. $100 - $150k is still just getting your hands warm in tech.

Those are wannabe rappers, not people in tech.

Forgot to mention, post your resume on some of the job boards if you haven't already done so. Get your line in the water and let the fish come to you. I like indeed.com but there are many good IT job boards.

Weird, I was making 40k right out of high school here in florida back in 1984 doing blue collar construction.

Yes.

LinkedIn and Dice do wonders.

Careerbuilder used to be okay but I think Dice and LinkedIn are doing marginally better.

With inflation accounted for that seems to come out right at $100k a year currently.

I guess that's why I was able to buy my first house as a single guy and after getting married my wife was able to raise our children as a SAHM.

That has not been my experience. I'm into Software and currently earning more annually here in ATL than I made in Connecticut where wages are high. Over 20 years experience, so that could be the main difference.

The IT scene is ultra competitive here in ATL. Experience trumps certs and degrees in many cases.
