US cities where games will be held: Seattle, San Fran, LA, Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Philly, Atlanta, Miami, Boston, New York.
Canadian cities: Toronto and Vancouver
Mexican cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, and
Monterrey

As 8th-largest metro in the US (ranking probably 7th by 2026), Atlanta had to get an invite, folks. How could it not? The best thing that might come out of Atlanta's *participation* in the 2026 World Cup (a better word than "hosting") is that soccer might become a more important sport in the Deep South, especially among men. It has a way to go.
Chicago and DC are not host cities, despite being larger than Atlanta. KC is the only one that really pulled off a coup by being host city.

Atlanta has the most successful MLS team in the country. That's as big a factor as anything. Chicago and DC are bottom feeders in terms of attendance.

Orlando does "straddle" -- I agree. But it gets less southern every year.

Eh, yes and no. There are certain areas that will remain Southern for years, if not forever. And I'm glad that these areas exist.

I think a best case scenario for Atlanta World Cup 2026 is the city is chosen to host a semifinals match and be named the site for the international broadcast center.

It just makes so much more sense than trying to jam everything into a single city. Basically no cities in the whole world has the infrastructure for a summer Olympic games.
Or even better, the summer Olympics is returned to Athens and held there every time. The infrastructure and waste and even ethical (slave labor) issues that have gone into the building of these projects worldwide is bad.

Winter Olympics would also need a permanent place, but I'm inclined to bring it back to the first time it was done, in the French alps almost exactly 100 years ago.

Atlanta scored big with FIFA. Atlanta’s MBS will host 8 matches total including 1 of the 2 Semifinals games.

MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was chosen for the Final.

Good for Atlanta. Where will the media center go? I thought Atlanta would be a top choice for the media center.

Sounds like Dallas is the clear frontrunner for the international broadcast center.
