Thought I'd toss this out... young couple (mid twenties), moving to GA for a job offer in Norcross, no kids (and not planning to have any), two big dogs... Where should we start looking for a house? We're planning to rent, not buy, right now.

Most important to us:
A decent yard for the dogs to play.
A commute that won't have us regretting signing the lease.
Relatively low crime rate.

Things that would be nice, but we can live without:
Convenient access/commute to Atlanta itself.

Things we don't care less about one way or another:
Whether it's a white/black/hispanic/other neighborhood.

Um, fire away! Any advice whatsoever is appreciated.

Check out this link.

From California, Relocating To Norcross,ga

It all depend on how much you want to spend. For $350,000 to 500,000 range, West Norcross and historic Norcross are options. So are nearby city of John's Creek. Those are probably best commute options, but somewhat pricey.

If you want to cheaper option, city of Duluth (north of Norcross) and city of Suwanee (north of Duluth) are good options. More on $250,000+ range for existing home and $300,000+ for new homes.

To rent a house? You can find it on craiglist. Still the same rules applied.

You can find it in West Norcross, Duluth or Suwanee. The house rent is pretty expensive, though. Around 1350 to 1500 a month. Most of them required one year lease as well. Even some of townhouse rent for 1200.

I know of a just renovated 2 bed 1 bath home with large privacy fenced back yard that will be coming up for rent in Historic Norcross that may meet your requirements, but has 100% hardwood floors, so dogs indoors may be a problem. I was told the price might be under a grand.
