Hey,
This is my first time out here but from reading the threads, you guys give some good info. There is a strong possibility that my family will be relocating to Atlanta within the next six months. Employment will be downtown (EPA-Forsyth). We would be looking for a single-family home, where the communte would not be outrageous to get to work, need a great private school for learning/emotional disabled high schooler, low crime, and all of the other typical stuff you want for a family w dog. We love the mountains, being originally from NC. If there is a place that public transportation to get downtown, that would be good. That's a start. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks

Well, being in or being able to see the mountains, affordable homes, and having low crime and good schools might put you a ways out in most cases.

Traffic isn't good anywhere here. You may wish to consider living someplace where they have one of the express bus routes that come into the city. The page for that is: http://www.xpressga.com/ The northern burbs will get you close(r) to the mountain areas.

First, the mountains are no where near downtown and if your child is going to go to private school anyway, you should probably consider living closer to work, not further.

I recommend that you start by figuring out the school thing. Since I don't know the extent of your child's disabilities, I would recommend:

Cottage
Horizons
St. Francis
Mill Springs
Brandon Mill

Those are the ones that come to mind, I am sure there are others.
