From a job perspective, yes.

From a living perspective, the jury is still out.

If I could get even ONE offer on my condo back in CLT, I'd be so much more at ease here.

It was positive for us. We are very happy here on many levels. I can't even imagine living in a cold climate anymore. The longer daylight is great. My kids used to get on the bus in the dark and get off in the dark during the long days of winter. Why freeze when you can have 60 degree days in the winter? On the very few days here it is cold in the winter, I dress my kids in all their cold weather gear and think I used to do this everyday up North. What a pain!

No matter where you live it is hot in the summer. Plus everything is air conditioned here.

From a career perspective- yes. I obtained an MBA here and found a job I enjoy at a Fortune 50 company.

From a housing perspective- yes. The townhouse I bought would be 2-3x as expensive in my hometown of Boston.

From a social perspective- mixed bag. I've made some good friends here, but of course miss my friends back in Boston (though a lot of them have also moved to other cities).

From a romantic perspective- of course! Met my wife here

It's been a great move for us- affordable homes, better weather, good people, great schools, and a job that pays the bills. What more does one need?

I have come to realize that the standard of life here is way higher than many other places. It is mind boggling when I get to visit friends in other states and we get talking...


Once you find a part of the metro you like, all is well.

From a career perspective- no. I actually began with my employer out of state and then transferred back to Atlanta. I regret the transfer.

From a housing perspective- yes. Housing is affordable and you will get a little bit more bang for the buck consider other large metropolitan cities--even near the city center.

From a social perspective- mixed bag. I've met some decent people here. The social environment with my colleagues have always been more intense compared to other areas.

From a romantic perspective- :-( It started good but now I am single... However, a lot of my friends that are transplants too have seem to meet their SO's or relocated with their SO's to Atlanta and have good relationships.
