Yeah and then they come around asking if there's a chance they can get out of it. As someone who has his 2 year old with him in the car about every day at some time or another I say hell with that. You deserve every penny of fine and whatever else penalty.

Mom has been charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction

The repairman won't be charged...

Quote:
The repairman said Wednesday he had no idea until after he fixed the BMW that it was the car that police say Aimee was driving when she caused the wreck.

"I didn't know anything about it," the owner of Lithia Auto Service, who gave his name only as Steve, said Wednesday.

Steve said Aimee came to him a day or two after the wreck, and he billed the Michaels just over $1,500 to fix the front-end body damage.

"Her mom paid the balance and she paid the deposit."

Steve said he drove the damaged car -- which was, at that time, the focus of a massive police search across Metro Atlanta -- from the Michaels' home in south Fulton County, to his body shop, on Bankhead Highway near Thornton Road in Lithia Springs, where he repaired it.

Last week, he said, when Aimee was arrested, he found out about the Easter Sunday wreck.

"And I looked at the news in the night time, and I saw her face. When I saw her face, I said, I've got to go to the police."

Police are not expected to charge the repairman since he came forward as soon as he said he found out.
They also swapped the plates out on the car too....

I'm so glad they charged the mother. Her actions were EVIL...

I have such sympathy for these victims and there families. I also feel this young girl was working hard on her degree and very scared and went home for security and advice from her family. Her mother knew the right thing for her to do instead she lead her daughter down a road of lies and deceit. I don't believe this girl would have ever been able to forget what she did and would have lived with this horrorable secret all her life which would eventally ruined her spirit. She now will live with a much deeper spirit that will haunt her the rest of her life. Accidents do happen but shame on this mother for not directing her daughter to do the right thing!

^I agree completely. What REALLY bothers me in all of this is that the mother is an educator!

Don't forget every mother's instinct to protect her children at all cost...obviously it was wrong for her to attempt a cover-up of the accident, but I think there is a good chance that the mother is a decent person who reacted to her frightened, distressed child. I bet most parents wouldn't report their children in a situation like this, although I also bet most wouldn't help their children avoid responsibility either.

Security and advice? She waited 2 days and lied talkin about she had an headache on the Sunday then kept the accident a secret for 2 or 3 days...

I understand being scared but the actions afterwards throws any sympathy towards her out of the window.

I'm wondering if she is an only child. This seems to have only child written all over it.....

Sorry, I can't feel sorry for her or her mother...I hope the book is thrown at the both of them.

Even worst, neither one has shown an ounce of sympathy. The mother's attorney had the nerve to say, she is so waiting for her daughter to come home so they can be together again.

On another note Paul Howard said the other day, if she had just stayed at the scene, she would be lookin at no more than 12 months in jail because she wasn't race and if she was under the influences of any drugs or alcohol, it would be misdemeanors charges. Now, she is looking at 10 times that!

This is why I never understand why folks leave when they hit pedestrians or in this case, car accidents. 98% of the time, if you stay, you will not be charged! It will be ruled pedestrian error!

I can certainly understand a young woman her age panicking and leaving the scene. IMO, her mother's actions are a bit more problematic. I am a mother and of course, you instinctively want to protect your child, but I would hope that I would insist that she turn herself in, and then hire her the best defense team possible.

I so agree with you. There is a chance this young lady is a decent person and may have eventually turned herself in if her mother hadn't tried to cover it up.

Oh how right you are. These are my thoughts exactly. She only made it worse by running.
