What parts of the town are safe and not safe? Could someone give me some Zipcodes and streets to go by? I don't want to move to a crime place. Thanks.

Unsafe areas are north east of Marietta Square to I-75, South of Marietta to Sandtown, west of tracks not so good, (South, but east of train tracks is ok.) Don't consider apartments on Franklin Road.

Everything else is good to very good to excellent for safety and quality of homes. NW of the square, 1/4 mile out, is high dollar, but very safe, East of Marietta (east of I-75) is very safe, West of Marietta out to Paulding County line is very safe. Marietta pretty safe if you avoid moving to areas mentioned as unsafe above. All newer subdivisions (25 years or less) are safe areas. Unsafe areas mentioned above are older WWII high density areas except apts on Franklin.

Good luck. You will love living here.

If you are looking just for zip codes, the safe and unsafe areas are not exactly zip code specific. You should be able to find the boundries mentioned in my last post on the various internet maps of Marietta and the surrounding area.

From my research and speaking briefly to a local yesterday the "crime areas" are along Delk Rd and Franklin Rd. You will generally find the rent cheaper around these areas.

I also hear that the zip codes 30067 and 30068 are good. Just watch that Franklin Rd and Delk Rd primarily. I am still looking for more info about apartments myself. I guess I will have to make yet another trip to Georgia very soon.

I have decided on Acworth/Kennesaw. I want to thank you all for your help. I will be moving down in August 2007. TF2

Go and check it out first. You need to actually go to Marietta, GA and drive down Franklin Rd. and Delk Rd. in order to have an understanding of the info you get here. Just know that there are some really nice areas to all of the cities around Atlanta but I have found some "not so good" areas in all the cities to include Smyrna, Acworth, Roswell, Marietta, Norcross, etc.

Invest in a few trips and see for yourself. It may make the difference. I was so set on Marietta but after visiting I have crossed it out and decided firmly on Acworth/Kennesaw.

By the way, some of the zip codes that are in the "good" areas also encompass the "bad crime" areas too. So zip codes encompass very large areas there so they will be of little use.
