We are looking to replace our HVAC system. Can anyone tell us what we can expect to pay and suggest a company to do it? Our home is 1500 sq. ft. and we are in Tucker. It would help to have some idea of what other people in the Atlanta area have paid.

Thanks!

If you get any numbers from the board, they're likely to be all over...depends on efficiency(of the unit and your house), condition of duct work, etc., etc. You will qualify for up to $1500 tax credit(most likely) provided you choose an Energy Star rated system.

We were very happy with the install and service from Universal when we got our system about 9 years ago(in Sandy Springs). We got their 'platinum' service plan which is not just an 'extended warranty' but a twice a year service AND 10 year warranty for about the cost of just the semi-annual service visit.
We 'collected' twice on the warranty from lightning strikes!! and once when the system was about 8 years old. All in all, well worth the initial cost. Too bad you didn't make it until fall...this hot spell probably has the HVAC dudes on the run! Good luck!

I paid $2400 for a new 4 ton, 13 SEER, R410A complete system (coil + condenser). It is sized for approx. 3000 sq ft.

Recommend Greg Smith at G/S Heating & Air Conditioning. He was the cheapest out there. Another guy was going to underbid him, but the other guy was so negative about cutting his price that I didn't trust him.

I know this is an old thread but I'm looking to replace the HVAC system in a rental house we own. About 1600 sf, one level built over a crawl space.

I'd like to install a good, serviceable system but it doesn't have to be the Rolls Royce model. What's the ballpark cost on these things nowadays? Are there any tax or energy credits?

Go for 15-16 deer and spend another grand adding attic insulation and weather stripping.

The variable speed compressors really reduce kilowatts used. I talking 40% lower monthly bills

Make sure not to get a system that uses R-22 refrigerant as it is being phased out for environmental reasons.
