It would be nice if Marta would pick up the routes. Interesting why a heavily used service is having trouble.

It's the state of the economy...there are heavily used transit systems all over the U.S. having $ problems. Hopefully there will be a fix for C-Tran before this happens.

They have had a few of those town meetings. Those buses are packed...The question is who benefits from Ctran ending service?

I really don't that think it's a question of who benefits & who doesn't from the end of C-Tran. The conservative-oriented rural-dominated state legislature simple doesn't care for Atlanta & that has long been a constant regardless of which political party is in power. Also, the current county leadership in Clayton is obviously inept.

Lastly, many of the people who may suffer because of the end of C-Tran are more than likely not very active politically because many of the bus riders in my subjective observersation(Keyword: subjective) are often hard-up on finances & resources and may not have the leisure time to read up on the issues. This also includes scrutinizing their government representation and CONSISTENTLY visiting the Clayton county commisioners office for daily or weekly public meetings to see what issues are being discussed & how the tax money is being spent.

In the end, it's voter apathy that's likely killing C-Tran.

Take a look at who makes up the "conservative-oriented rural-dominated state legislature" and you'll see that just as half the state's population is based in the Atlanta metro area, the legislature is a representation of that population. Your rhetoric is more political bias to try and explain away a complex issue.

Let's not blame others for inept government in Clayton County.

If you read my WHOLE message, than you would clearly see that I place the blame for Clayton County's crappy government squarely on the people of Clayton county themselves.

*Sigh*.....But as usual, Mister Neil ignores that & aims squarely at what he wants to see, or rather what he thinks is a slight to the oh-so hallowed bastion of Conservatism. Why do you refuse to acknowledge the pains I go through to place blame at all levels? Talk about a massive case of hyper-partisanship.

Final point: I would add that it doesn't matter whether the half the conservatives in the state reside in the metro area or not. In my opinion it's simply a case of cutting off the nose to spite the face. There are some folks who just can't stand to share the resources of this planet with others who are different from them.

The state legislature barely represents me, if at all. Money talks, & the poor walk...literally!

As usual, I'm merely quoting your words and what you wrote....not what you meant or intended to say. I didn't read you blaming anything on Clayton County's gov't. Your quote is: "scrutinizing their government representation and CONSISTENTLY visiting the Clayton county commisioners office for daily or weekly public meetings to see what issues are being discussed & how the tax money is being spent."

What was specific and targeted was the following quote: "conservative-oriented rural-dominated state legislature" and I responded to it.

As for your patronizing diatribe....I won't dignify the childishness. Discuss the points or feel free to put me on your ignore list. I'm close to adding you.

Easy, now. I am not so hot on scoring points that it would lead to acrimony. I think this stuff is getting a bit too intense, eh? Let's turn down the heat a notch. We'll agree to disagree, shake hands, & call it a night, agreed?

Peace.
