My family and I are traveling to Atlanta for a few days in March to experience the Korean culture without going to Korea. I was told northern Atlanta is the place to go along the Buford Highway.

Where would the best place to get a hotel? Duluth or Doraville? I want to get the full effect of the Korean community.

There are more hotels in the Perimeter Mall area/Ashford Dunwoody Rd which is 10-15 minutes from Doraville.

There are a number of restaurants and shops in the area around Doraville that may be of interest to you. Pleasant Hill Rd/Duluth also has a number of Asian owned stores.

Looking for Korean Communities near Atlanta

I'm so confused.... I read that Chamblee and Doraville is the place to be, then I read the post linked to your reply and it says Duluth has the biggest Korean community. UGGGGHHH. I want to pick the right place.

I will check out the Ashford Dunwoody area.

Thank you.

I may be wrong, but I don't see the Ashford-Dunwoody area as particularly Korean. I think your original idea of either Doraville or Duluth is the right way to go.

Doraville is not that far from Duluth--perhaps 20 minutes. I would still plan to look for a hotel in the Perimeter area.

The problem is that Doraville doesn't have a good number of hotels. I read the reviews of the few hotels they do have and most the reviews aren't so favorable. So it may have to be Duluth, but I don't want to drive 20-30 minutes each day to go the local attractions.

Thanks for the advice.

Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you mean by "Perimeter area?"

Yeah definitely Buford Hwy. Chamblee area. Driving down Buford Highway at one point you might actually think your in Korea for a brief moment, until boom, there's pink pony LOL.

They are coming to Atlanta to experience Korean culture..."I want to get the full effect of the Korean community".

Sorry, but I don't think that the Perimeter area is a good suggestion to experience Atlanta's Korean culture.

I don't know that even Doraville or Duluth are going to give anyone the "full effect of the Korean community". Granted, those areas have high Korean populations, but the original post just strikes me as odd- it's not like those areas are full recreations of Korea any more than Little Italy in NYC would be a good substitute for taking a trip to Italy. Someone is likely to be sorely disappointed by this trip......
