Business headlines for 2015 look to be dominated by apartments, offices, and attractions.
Construction projects that will start or be completed in 2015:

-Unisys ramping up it's hiring, on its way to 700 employees, confirming location
-Construction of $12 million dollar, 2 story Medac office & parking deck to be completed in North Augusta. Over 600 people will be working at the office when completed.
-$170 million dollar mixed use development in North Augusts possible, if approved.
-A boarded up building on Ellis Street in downtown Augusta will be converted into a 19-unit apartment building. Expected to be completed in summer. Rent will start at $650 per month.
- $11 million dollar, 106-unit, CanalSide apartments, near the medical district to open in May.
-Sage Creek Apartment complex will be built on Marks Church Road. Boasts 120 units.
-Construction on Grand Oaks at Crane Creek, a 300-unit luxury apartment complex on Walton Way extension.
-A 252-unit apartment development across from Village at Riverwalk retail center to break ground in early 2015.
-Airstrike Trampoline Park to open
-Construction of GRU's 650 new dorm units on Health Sciences Campus in Medical District.
-Construction of Riverwatch 14 Cinema, a 14 auditorium theater complex that will include a full service restaurant, dining, and IMAX.
-Washington Crossing Lifestyle center to continue to add resturants and retail.
Augusta had the most job growth in the entire state in 2014, and that is expected to continue. The leisure and Hospitalty industry exploded in 2014, adding 3,000 jobs, and expected to add more this year. If growth in that area continues, it will overtake health and education as the 2nd largest job sector. South Carolina' s economy will be driven by manufacturing, and mirror last year's 2.0% job growth. The year just started and there is already lots of development starting. 2015 will likely be a great year for Augusta.

It's great to see all of the great things happening in Augusta. I truly feel the city will see its biggest growth over the next decade. Also they should add the 650 new dorm units GRU is adding to its Health Science campus this year.

I believe so as well. I editted my post to include your information about GRU's dorms. Thanks. I believe that GRU's master plan will be released early this year by SmithGroupJJR. I know one of the plans is to get rid of all surface parking lots. It should be really be interesting.

We need a little help down here around Deans Bridge Road in south Augusta and Hephizbah, but the trampoline park and the water park look fun. It's nice to see GRU growing as well.

Marshall square retirement community is expected to open early this year. It is an $27 million “all-inclusive” apartment complex for people 55 and older. The new Evans community includes on-site dining, exercise facilities, a bank, pharmacy and 150-seat theater.
All amenities are included in the rent, which costs between $2,500 and $4,500 monthly based on the floor plan. Work continues on a 44,000-square-foot health and rehabilitation center on Pleasant Home Road. A 42,000-square-foot senior living apartment community near Doctors Hospital is also expected to open this year. Augusta-Richmond County Planning and Development Director Melanie Wilson said she created a new zoning district last year that will aid senior-centered projects.
The new district, similar to one she had at her last job in Raleigh, N.C., encourages a “village-type concept” that consists of different housing types on the same parcel. There are likely many more senior complexes on the way, since Augusta's current senior apartments and communities are all near 100% leased. The number is expected to pick up over the coming years. University Health Care System's new facility prompt care on Georgia Ave, in downtown North Augusta, is expected to open in early spring. North Augusta is also working to getting more apartments, condos, and an urban grocery store.

Wow, I wasn't aware that Augusta had so much construction going on and planned for 2015. There seems to be a spark in development since I last visited. I could see it having the most overall growth out of the 2nd tier metros over the next decade.

Where exactly are the water park and theater going to be located? Will they just be starting construction this year, or actually be finished this year?

The water park will be located in Grove town and the theater will be at the village at riverwatch site in Augusta. The water park is supposed to be completed by Memorial Day of this year. Not sure about the theater.
