I'm just curious which 3 large employers you're referring to, and which one is currently in trouble.

The top schools in the state of GA are all in richmond county georgia. Davidson is the number one school in the state of ga. Ar johnson is ranked number 5 and ct walker is in the top 20. All these schools are located in the city of augusta. I moved from alpharetta to augusta about 2 years ago. And i really like the improvements the city has been going through. Especially with the downtown area. The augusta mall also looks like a mall that would be located in atlanta. They have several new stores that only major cities have.

These are magnet schools and are not representative of the overall school system. Of course these schools rank high... because they are able to "cherry pick" the best students systemwide. But there is also a long waiting list to get into these schools. And unless things have changed ( I had kids who attended Davidson)..a student has to attend their zoned school first before they can apply for admission into one of the magnet schools. It took my kids two years to get in.. and believe me, you don't want to have your kids in one of the other schools in Augusta for that long before they are able to get into the magnet schools. In Columbia County it's less of a gamble with the public schools.

You must be referring to Morris Communications.. and yes, they are in big financial trouble. Word is they are about to begin a fire sale of their assets, which may even include their hometown paper The Augusta Chronicle.
If you read the Chronicle more than once then its easy to figure out the company is in trouble. It reads like a high school newspaper.. and is extremely biased.. they don't even make an attempt to appear objective.
