Can anyone give me areas where I can look at buying a home in the $300-500K range. I would like the home to be around 2-5 years old.

Thanks

Like veronica said, where do you want to be? You can find that price range and age almost anywhere.

However, that range and age screams Steiner Ranch to me. But it all depends on where you will be working.

I bet you can find that in just about any suburb here. Central would be the most difficult because of the age.

Ideally you'll want to live close to work to lessen your commute. Traffic here can be pretty brutal at times. If you can tell us in what part of town you will be working, it will be easier to point you towards some areas that meet your criteria.

You could buy a house for the mid 300s-400s, less than 2 years old, in The Ridge at Lantana just off SW Parkway...about 2 1/2 miles from Mopac. You can be downtown in no traffic in about 7 minutes and 15 in traffic. The houses are really nice. The lots are large (many 1/2 - 1 acre) but some of them are awkward due to being built basically on a hillside.

I'm thinking a lot more info is required here to be able to help you out. Around what area will you be working? Are schools a big factor? What else might we need to consider?

I'm amazed the realtors on the board haven't jumped in to ask these questions and help out. They're usually pretty good with that!

$300-500k is a huge range. You can even be in Lakeway and Bee Cave for that price. Higher end of the range, but still within your range. If I was buying all over again, in this same price range, I would buy West rather than North.
