Hi Everyone ~

We are a family of 6 relocating from a suburb of Chicago to Austin. We are going to be visiting in a month to scout out some possible areas to live and I need some help narrowing them down. My husband is a pharmacist, so he can put in for a transfer to any area and get close enough. So far we have Steiner Ranch, Bee Cave, Lake Travis school district area and Dripping Springs on our list. What do you think of these areas and can you suggest any others? Here is a list of things we are looking for in the 400K-600K range. I deeply appreciate your help!

1. Great schools

2. Close proximity to lakes as we love to jet ski and boat.

3. A bit of land, maybe 1 acre would be nice but not necessary if we have to compromise to many other things. I would like to have a big garden and room for the kids and dog to roam a little.

4. No more then 15-20 minutes from stores ..Sam's club, Target etc...

5. Nearby bike trails and walking paths.

6. Park district or places with kids activities such as Karate and gymnastics.

7. No more then 30-40 minutes from downtown.

Thanks!

An area like Travis Settlement in Spicewood might be a good place to look.

1 - Lake Travis ISD schools

2 - Very close to Lake Travis

3 - Travis Settlement lots are generally 2 acres to 7 acres; terrain is variable.

4 - Target is 20 mins, as are other stores including Bee Cave Galleria. Sams Club is 30 mins away.

5 - No obvious bike trails in the area that I know of. But if you are a serious cyclist you will probably ride where other serious cyclists ride. If you're asking about kids - maybe take them to Bee Cave park to ride. Note that this area is hilly and difficult for novices to ride.

6 - kids activities for fee or for free are widely available. Tae Kwan Do in the Lakeway area. Gymnastics in Oak Hill. Lake Travis Youth Association for soccer, baseball, etc.

7 - Downtown is 30-45 mins depending on when and where you want to go.
