I watched the first episode because my daughter was an extra in the pilot (all the high school flashback scenes were filmed at McCallum High), but I thought it stunk. I'm not surprised it's cancelled. Nothing compelling or new really.

I agree with your sentiments, ImOnFiya! And all of you are right the show was bad. The concept had some promise- of shooting a documentary of highschoolers 10 years later- but, with all the real reality shows out there, the execution on this one sank its ship. It LOOKED fake- plus some of the 'real' people were recognizable actors (esp. the blond glamour gal).

Here's a thought: Perhaps if our super tight-knit little film craftsmans union (local 484) would not make it so very difficult for "outsiders" to join, our production crews would be enriched from the experience of the "brides"- like Chicago, California, and New York. Our union is small and has a track record of showing favoritism to the local few. They really resent outside help. The same team gets top pick on all the local film crews. In other states this is called "jumping ship" (working on one project and having another spot being 'saved' for you on another) and can get you ousted. These folks here will never admit to such nefarious deeds, but it happens regardless.
Californians are moving here in droves, like it or not. Why not let them onto our crews and actually use their skills to help us to make more and better productions? Texas just reinstated the tax credits for filmmaking so rather than just add new applicants into the pool to make the numbers look good, actually use them. Maybe the local shoots would come out looking cleaner, edgier, etc. and appeal to more people. And I agree, other than the intro, you could barely tell on My Generation, what town it was filmed in. We have such a tremendous talent pool here and unique setting- a pity it was not more effectively utilized.
