I'm finding general information and bits and pieces but would be tickled to hear your thoughts on a trip to Enchanted Rock in the next week. DW and I would like a short getaway to celebrate our anniversary and we've not made it to the 'Rock' in our two years here. I'm thinking Fredericksburg would make a fun side-trip, should the weather not cooperate.

Any thoughts on Enchanted Rock at this time of the year?

Thanks, y'all!

This is a wonderful time to visit, temperatures are cooler so hiking is more pleasant and camping out is wonderful, not to hot during the day, cool enough to sleep comfortably at night. Hard to pick a better time. If you don't want to do camping this trip, it is a long enough drive there and back ( including time to do some hiking and exploring) to make it worth staying overnight in Fredricksburg, possibly at a bread and breakfast place, of which there are several.

Doing a google maps search for Bread and Breakfast, I found several close by.

Trois Estate At Enchanted Rock‎
300 Trois Lane
Fredericksburg, TX 78624-6586
(830) 685-3090
http://www.troisestate.net

Rocky Top Bed & Breakfast‎
7910 Ranch Road 965
Fredericksburg, TX 78624-6537
(830) 997-8145

Tin Star Ranch‎
13454 Lower Crabapple Rd
Fredericksburg, TX 78624-6513
(830) 685-3465

Bell Mountain Vineyards‎
463 Bell Mountain Rd
Willow City, TX 78675-8501
(830) 685-3297

There are probably 40 more in Fredricksberg itself.

Bread and Breakfast places are sort of a traditional kind of place to stay in Fredricksburg as the early pioneers who settled around the area would often have or rent a small place in town to stay at on weekends when they came in to provision and sell goods.

Thanks for the info. We're still studying(actually have tickets to the game on Sat., if we want them) for the week-end. With our luck, we'll finally get some real rain just in time for our anniversary! We won't complain!

Our original 'plans' were 1100 miles east(Highlands, NC) OR west(Grand Canyon). Seems we have scaled back a bit; but, we would still like a short trip. Thanks again!
