Yeah, there were three sizes, and we went with the smaller trash bin when we got the humongous recycle bin. I though it was under $20, though, not sure, and it might have gone up since I last paid any attention to it.

Edit: According to the COA web site (I did not look at my bill), the three rates are $13.50, $18.75, and $27.95 for 30, 60, and 90 gallon bins, respectively.

I tip mine because those guys take most anything we put out. We have a private company and it's the same crew. I tape mine to the top of the can inside a card (and a ziplock this year since it was raining). Since we live on a cul-de-sac, I didn't have to worry about anyone else getting it. Last 2 years DH was outside when they came and they smiled and waved when they opened it. Last year my neighbor took a chainsaw to their old couch and stuffed half of it in my can! They took it anyway. I figured they deserved a tip!

Yes, but then they add several misc. fees on, mine breaks down
$ 5.00 Anti-Litter Residential
$ 8.75 Res- Base Customer Charge
$10.00 Res 60 Gallon Cart @$10.00 each
$ 1.56 Sales Tax
-------
$25.31 Total

I wonder what the Anti-Letter Residential fee is for? Most of the littering in my neighborhood is done by the trash pick up crews.

Back in Atlanta, where the private company trash dudes would actually get out of the truck, take the bag out of your trash can and then REPLACE the lid, yes, I happily tipped the gentleman. The same level of service is not provided by our CoA fellow(s)...drive down the street, operate lever to lift clamp/bin, drive away quickly if trash blows out. No tip from us.

We tip our garbage collector. We just put a nice snack out on top of the can with a bow on it and they found it and were very appreciative.
