So I'm looking to buy my first home somewhere in Central or East Austin. I'm a PT foreign language teacher and would like to, if possible, have a small classroom-type office in my home where students could come by for classes. This would not be a high traffic situation as this is only a PT job; there'd be at most 10 one hour classes per week (each class being 1-3 students, so there would not be lots of cars coming and going).

I know this type of operation is fairly common (piano teachers, yoga instructors etc.) but I don't know if it's fairly legal. I wouldn't want to plan on something and then have it not be an option.

Would I need a house with special zoning to allow this?

Thanks!

COA zoning regulates what is allowed for a home office, no signs allowed, no more then 3 customers per day... See this thread.

Anyone rec a CPA?
